Sometimes, I Fall in Love With Myself. Today Is One of Those Days.

I can always make myself laugh without saying a word
I'm always there for me
I'm always smiling
I'm always happy to be with me
I find my witty humor astounding
I find my freckles attractive
I find my personality refreshing
I always know what I mean
I always know what to say
I always know what I think is ok
I would never hurt myself on purpose
I would never cheat on me
I would never smoke a cigarette
I like my parents
I like my brother
I like my friends
I agree with my morals
I agree with my opinions
I agree with my values
I let me be myself

Quote from Randolph in Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote:

"I tell you my dear, Narcissus was no egtist... He was merely another of us who, in our unshatterable isolation, recognized, on seeing his reflection, the one beaautiful comrade the only inseparable love... poor Narcissus, possibly the only human who was ever honest on this point."

Boredom is Our Enemy

Top 10 things I do when I'm bored:

  1. Learn to write with my less-dominant hand
  2. Doodle! People who can't draw always have the best drawings
  3. Create figures out of paper
  4. Write down every thought that comes to my head
  5. Focus on not moving at all
  6. Stare at people around the room and calculate the average time it takes for someone to see that I am looking at them
  7. Whistle. I can't, so I just annoy all around me by practicing
  8. Count stuff and make pie charts
  9. Make a tower out of cards (try to get past level two)
  10. Clean

Try A Little Harder To Live A Little More

No poem in this one, just a story.

My, how precious life is.

Once upon a time, there was a girl. She looked and thought lot like me. Her dad organized a lot of things in her town, and had just organized a softball tournament for the local businesses. This girl, lets go ahead and call her Katie, was an employee as a busser at one of the local restaurants. It was her job to clear the tables, sweep, mop, dust, fill drinks, and all those other jobs no one likes doing. Anyway, her restaurant signed up for the softball tournament. Katie's restaurant had to play against the only grocerie store in town, and was short a few players. The game was purely for fun, so some people from the other team offered to play on Katie's team for the duration of the game. One of the players that switched over was Jack.
Jack and Katie were the best on the team considering they were the only ones who had played softball before. He played shortstop and Katie played second base. The announcer had them running the bases backwards, making the players skip around the bases, and giving extra points for the best dance moves on the field. But even when they were playing defense, between pitches, Jack could always make Kaite laugh. And she was attracted to him as well. It wasn't his physical appearance, but more his humor and the twinkle in his eye. Maybe it was only friendship she saw, but she still remembered him long after the game ended.
Apparently, he went on to be an exchange student, visited Paris, Denmark, Brussels, came back, joined the army, traveled abroad, then today, he died.

RIP Jack
Thank you for serving our country.

It Doesn't Matter, As Long As You Don't Take Yourself Seriously.

This quote is, I believe, best represented by this video:

AND HERE
are some (more) depressing poems

Embarrassed
German is hard to learn
to understand is what I yearn
but I cant concentrate
so I'm always late
which reddens my cheeks till they burn

Changes Don't Change
I have no motivation
despite my change of nations
I'm still at a loss
my brain's growing moss
all confusion about my creation

Age
I once met a wonderful girl
without a care in the world
she looked just like me
I'm starting to see
how a mirror can change with a twirl

Tree
Deep is the pool that she sees
A shallow reflection of she
The water will rise
The more that she cries
At how rough a world this can be

Maybe I'll just go to sleep
What should I do when I'm feeling blue?
Write sad poetry for an hour or two?
It's always depressing
I feel I'm digressing
Perhaps digesting?
Food always makes me feel good
But I Don't think that it should
I start to get fat
But what's wrong with that?
Thursday I lost my hat.
Every thought brings me further down
I'm searching for one to bring me 'round
Thinking and thinking
Linking and linking
Sinking and sinking

I'm Actually Quite Delightful Before You Get To Know Me

You've seen her before:
Smile on her face,
Looking off to space.
She can keep a conversation for 33 seconds,
Then retreat so no one knows
What goes on behind her nose.

Her eyes are bright
Even though last night
She could taste their salt
She would whine and fight
Though all was right
And nothing was her fault.

The more that she thought
The more that she fought
The more that she sought
For the reason why
She continued to cry
Though there was no lie.

No wrong being done,
No spoiler of fun,
Yet nowhere to run.

But that's not her there,
The girl in the chair
With that distant stare...

...or is it?

She Wears the Summer to Run From the Winter

As she gazes out the window to the falling snow,
She wonders where her life will go.
So many possibilities to follow,
Which one is right? she has to know.
Layers and layers of whitened dust.
She has to choose one path to trust.
One and only one she must.
If only she could find the lust!
She grabs her tea to cross the room-
Perhaps the view causes her gloom;
This feeling of ever hovering doom;
Encircling her like a poisonous fume.
She looks to the pictures on her wall,
(Thumb-tacked because the tape would fall)
Towel, sunglasses, friends and beach ball.
That time of year is the best of them all.
The river, the lake, the boat and the cake,
All experiences she'd love to re-take.
In the summer sun she would daily bake,
Back when the smile was never fake.
The sweater, the jeans, the tights underneath,
The door, uglified with that hideous wreath,
The ever-consuming of soup with beef,
And TV re-runs of the Christmas thief-
She wants to go back to the time without schools.
More freedom, more fun, and less of the rules.
If only she had the right time machine tools,
Instead of brain-dimming, she'd be swimming in pools.
And then, an idea! a spark! something new!
She rushed to her closet, she knew what to do!
With her tank top, and shorts and thin sandal shoes,
She turned the heat up to one hundred and two.
She layed out a blanket and plopped on her bed.
This new idea went straight to her head.
Pulled out a magazine and read and read.
Then her hunger for summer was rightfully fed.

BONUS
(damn skippy you're excited)

In class, I know just what to do.
If you're bored, you can do it too.
When you don't understand,
Write with your left hand.
Or just ask to go to the loo.

Thoughts when drinking a glass of milk:

Quotes from people who don't normally speak English:

Some speakers I drew:

Ulla

Ingrid

someone else doodled all around her

An Elephant I drew with a German:

Aparently, the rider is questioning his sexuality.

The Helpers at the Thingy

Orange man, Orange man
Likes to help any way he can
Are we lost? we don't mind
His bright orange vest is easy to find

Orange man orange man
I'd like to say I'm his biggest fan
He knows the way to McDonalds and back
He drew a line right on our map

Here Thus Far

I thought it would be different here
but all I see's the same
discussions are identical
just told a coded way
the food has changed, the air, the sun
and so much more to say
but the thing I thought would change the most
has yet to start to sway

America

Sometimes I
wish that I
could sleep all day
just to see you in my dreams
its so cliche
but that's ok
because in my dreams you're there

Sleep all day
sleep all year
then wake up and have you near
just wait for me one year

and when I come home
you know that i will be so happy to see you
I'll run to your arms
and hold you till you tell me to let go
But until then I'll just keep dreamin'

Sometimes it rains
sometimes it shines
but you are always on my mind
from morning till night
when the moon is so bright
your're always there for me
when I close my eyes

Sleep all day
sleep all year
then wake up and have you near
just wait for me one year

my dear

Just wait for me one year

Magic

dancing down the middle of the road at night
spinning under the stars
staring at the waves slowly creeping in
jumping into a puddle or two
a warm breeze flowing through your fingers
dirt beneath your feet
the sound of june bugs
the smell of all the flowers of the world combined
the feeling of grass between your toes
the cold chill of water
a clap of thunder and a flash of white light
warm rain after a hot day
unbinding your hair
summer
what makes these so magical?

I Am the Fault I See In Everyone Else

I am perfect.
I am who I want to be.
I am the creation of my own design.
I am me.

I apologize for grammar/puncuation/spelling/rhyming

Don't Mind Me
there were letters all along
not sent
but rather
saved in song
praise of one another's care
not sent but kept (too much to share)
filled with many of the same things
stories of sketches and rocks and strings
a mirror of work
in each's collection
not letting on that they shared affection
neither had cheated, but some did assume
it's hard to believe a love thats so true.

yet the connection has passed, the feeling won't change
their hearts still beat with a tinge of a pang
one who is strong, the other is weak
on the outside, the strong is the one who looks meak
it's none of my buisness, but this i suggest:
if quitting wont work, then give it a test.
if the test wont work then just let it be;
move on or move to a common city

Strange Change

Fascade of smiles crumbles down
What has changed? What has been found?
Nothing’s changed, no nothing’s new
No more strength to push on through.
Nothing’s sad, but why keep laughing?
No more acts so why keep clapping?

The person that you the thought you knew
The one right in front of you
Did something you never thought she’d do
Something’s different, here’s a clue
She’s just changed her point of view

Love Me
I want a boy to tell me
I’m beautiful

I already know I am, although
On some days I’d disagree with that statement
But even on those days
If someone were to try to convince me
I could be persuaded
Especially if that someone
Were cute
And smiled at me
When I least expected it.

Instant Tan

The tan’s not real
It doesn’t feel
The same as sun baked skin.
The glow looks natural
I’d rather have actual
Sun rays seeping in.

A citrusy smell
They copy it well
But it’s not the same as the sand.
Keep your sun in a bottle
Heck I’d rather waddle
With sunburn than get a fake tan.

YOU CANT DANCE
            But I Can Write

These words keep dancing
Out of my brain
On the inside of my skull
Then filter through my ear
Like
Ants exiting an ant hill
Then march down my arm,
Pausing to tickle my elbow
Then take giant leaps across my wrist
As deer leap in fields
And exert a force on my fingers
That makes me write them down.

They don’t care that they aren’t graceful dancers.

They do it anyway.

The Extras

Pay attention to the supporting characters
Forget about the lead
He gets all the attention
He could ever need

Take a look at the one in the back
Not important at all
Look how well they fit their part
Right there, his name is Paul.

We see Paul as he walks by
Wishing he was the lead
A tear in his eye
But he doesn’t cry
Hardly noticed amidst the stampede

But if he weren’t there
Where else would we stare?
After watching the movie five times?
He added so much
With that tear of a touch
At the value of a dozen for dimes.

Haiku Day!!!

Jealousy
I am quite jealous
Of people who can write
Awesome poetry

Pride
Boyne city ramblers
Are forever red and blue
Like the beating heart

Of course you haven’t
Have you seen my dog?
My dog is better than yours
It’s invisible

Selfish
Have you ever thought
That maybe the world isn’t
All about yourself?

Brain waves
One complete cycle
My brain is frequently washed
And no one touched it

Vocabulary
Is hard for me to expand
It sounds impressive

First impression
I hope you like me
Although I am not so sure
That I like myself

Autophobia
I am so normal
That I am afraid of it
That’s fine, it’s normal

What?
Hey look over there
Where do you want me to look?
Over there that duck

Pass
I have given up
There is no way this is art
My poems must be ‘wrong’

Art is
Taking useless things
And making it beautiful
But it’s still useless

Inside and Out

On the outside
She is messy, unorganized
Her clothes don’t fit
And they never look right.
She hardly ever wears make-up
Unless she’s feeling especially unattractive.
She likes to play with action figures
Children’s’ toys
She climbs trees
She bites her nails
Her shoes are worn out
Her hair’s too long
With split ends
She walks into screen doors
Forgets what she’s looking for
She picks her nose
And flicks her boogers
She rarely brushes her teeth
Let alone floss
Yet she has a boyfriend
I don’t understand that
But on the inside
She shuns her evil thoughts
Even though they are her own
She feels that reading a book
Is like drinking sweet sun tea
As the smooth words
Trickle down her digestive track
She notices things that others don’t
Wants to be different
Wants to be liked
Wants people to know how special she is
Without being famous
She fears the future
Relishes the present
And hardly remembers the past
She hates the idea of the world
Turning into computer screens
She misses the time when people were nomadic
She never had a hero
Because she always discovered
They were real people

Havent posted in a while so i thought i'd post a billion (or less). Most of them are ancient. Some new ones though:)

Who Turned the Lights Off?

I’m writing this in the dark
With my eyes closed,
Literally and figuratively
I suppose.
I wish I had never introduced
You to her
You two are perfect.
You’re into her.
So into her that you don’t see
Me.

Because I’m in the dark
Tea

Give me power
Keep me warm
Encourage me
To break the norm
Force my eyes
Open wide
Help me spill
What’s inside
lost
A little
Boy named
Tom lost his
Balloon.

Wind

Walk the dog, Rake the leaves
And I’ll cool you with my breeze.
Pitch the tent, help it grow,
I’ll knock it down with one strong blow.
Climb the tree at break of dawn
Feel it shake with gentle yawn
Lay in grass with calming hush
I’ll bend the blades as bye I rush.
Watch the car go speeding past
Feel me chase it with a blast

The nothing with you all around,
When it moves it makes no sound
But upon when glancing ear
Then is when one can hear
Most gentle whisper ever heard
Upon the wings of flapping bird
The thing that makes the waves crash down
Upon the shore, an easing sound
Such soft power solely found
Within the wind to which I’m bound
flight

I’d love to fly
But how can I?

In a cage

I’ve been here
Twelve years
Learning

In a cage

I see the outside

Through the thin wires,
The latch is open
I don’t dare move
Soon a hand will come and push me out
I’ll wait until then
How can I possibly leave?
I’ve known no other place
They want me to be free
I’m fine here

In my cage

It’s the distance that broke them

I could slice with skates or toss a dart
But they could never pierce your heart
Its frozen cold
Or so I’m told
By my friend you tore apart
